Regardless of the topic, there is always a segment of the population that is panicking about this or that. Either they really hate something or they really love something, but, like, in a hateful way. They supposedly love it so much, it’s obvious that they’re obliterating themselves. In other words, their love for that thing is the same as their hatred toward self.
The amusing thing is that, whether they hate straightforwardly or roundaboutly, they’re hating. Therefore, in my mind, they belong in one segment.
One clear example of this is in politics: people who supposedly support opposing parties in a zealous way belong in ONE SINGLE SEGMENT in my mind. They are THE SAME. They *think* they’re different because in *their* mind they’re fighting *against* each other in the political arena, but me who couldn’t give two fucks about politics sees them as ONE mass of panicking people who are obsessed about the SAME thing.
The same phenomenon happens in all fields. The one that stands out to me these days is technology. Unlike politics, I am in fact interested in technology as a practical tool in my everyday life. This means that if I am not careful, I can find myself actually believing the bullshit of the panicking segment, be it the straightforwardly hateful side or the roundaboutly hateful side. Therefore, it is good for me to remind myself that this is just like in politics. The pro and anti sides are ONE segment. They’re all just panicking.
In other words, it’s actually 100% certain (in my life) that none of what they predict will come to fruition. People absorbed in politics think everyone cannot live without the drama of politics–they’re wrong. People absorbed in technology think everyone cannot live without the drama of technology–they’re wrong.
