🧠 Healthy, brainless activities.

More than ten years ago, I wanted the type of freelance work that I am doing these days. I wanted brainless freelance work that I consider healthy.

This work doesn’t leave me stressed before, during, or after. Not a lot anyway. It allows me to concentrate for short stretches of time when I want to, and mostly not be bothered by it when I don’t want to. It also brings in money, and in such a way that I consider it a “good deal.” (Some jobs, even if they superficially pay “more,” don’t count as “more” in my worldview because they also cost more. In that case, even a job that pays a million dollars a year is a bad deal. For me. I care about total profit in dollar amount, time, mental room, physical comfort, etc.)

In fact, this job is so straightforward and no bullshit that I am gradually convincing myself: Whenever you’re bored, you’re literally better off working than scrolling through social media. It’s also better to just work on this than to “learn” and “brainstorm” and “research” random things. This is because these days, what I want to learn/brainstorm/research is based on the vague remnants of the delusion that I must do something to get something.

No, I don’t have to do anything. The sun shines brightly without me making it shine. The air is abundant without me making it circulate. My heart beats fine and my hair grows.

Most things that are truly important in life aren’t things that I “try to accomplish.” They just work on their own.
