🧴 Fabric and noodles.

The feeling I get when I’m learning things about fabric is similar to the feeling I get when I’m learning about noodles.

They are so difficult to make!!!

Nowadays, there are automated processes. But wayyyy back when people were first figuring out that fabric and noodles are possible…

How…? who…? what…? Who came up with these ideas? When I see sheep, I don’t think, “Goodness, I should go through a million steps to make fabric out of all that fluffy looking stuff.” When I see wheat and rice plants, I don’t go, “I’m not just going to eat that. Instead, let me make long edible strings out of them.” Those thoughts just never occur to me.

It’s so fascinating. Totally. Also, here is a cool blog:

I really want to keep wadmal as the “origin cloth” for the current WIP. It’s a very interesting fabric. It’s coarse, but also, it was used as currency. It’s old, so it’s exactly the type of mythical object that the cooperative in the story needs.
