❓ Something nice that I stumbled upon.

This isn’t some “technique,” some way to “control” the mind. Also, it’s not something that I haven’t been aware of, prior to beginning to apply this to myself directly, a couple of weeks ago. (I should emphasize that, I began applying this because it came so naturally, it didn’t feel like I was applying it.)

The thing I’m talking about is wondering. More specifically, wondering about preferred realities.

Examples include:

  • What if I am completely safe, bullet-proof, and taken care of?
  • What if everything goes my way?
  • What if I get what I want?
  • What if I don’t have to suffer?
  • What if there are no problems?
  • What if there is no one to please but myself?

Counter-examples include:

  • What if I am in danger, being attacked, being hated?
  • What if nothing goes my way?
  • What if I never get what I want?
  • What if I have to keep suffering?
  • What if there are a bunch of problems?
  • What if I have to please others?

If the second set feels more realistic than the first, it’s because you accepted one or the other foundational delusion–likely, something that has to do with “I don’t deserve what I want.”

And yes, it is a delusion. It is absolutely delusional to believe that you don’t deserve what you want. Why on earth wouldn’t you deserve safety, peace, health, ease, and comfort?

And the nice thing about wondering is that it doesn’t require “belief.” You don’t have to fervently “believe” that you are adopting the first set for your life instead of the second set.

Wondering is simply about redirecting the conversation you have with yourself, in a desired direction. With wondering, we don’t have to push for anything or pull anything closer. It’s a light touch of awareness, which is light anyway.

Ever since I noticed this in myself, it just… it seems ludicrous that I once believed that I must suffer. It’s insane, really.
