💎 Heist.

Of all the crime-related genres/tropes, the only one that gives me pleasure is the heist.

Maybe it has to do with the idea that what is being stolen isn’t absolutely necessary for a human being to survive and thrive. Of course, having one’s property stolen must suck extremely. Also, some people’s calling might be related to the stolen object. (As in, it’s not just an object. It’s a soul thing.) However, that level of suckiness cannot be compared to the absolute and total shittiness of being kidnapped, murdered, and/or raped.

One can live without a diamond. One can even live without a great painting. And genre/trope-convention-wise, one doesn’t call it a “heist” when one is stealing $100 from someone whose net worth is $100. I’m not sure where a heist begins and common thievery ends, but stealing $100 from someone with only $100 might be considered financial manslaughter. For a heist, it has to be more like stealing $10 million from someone with a net worth of $50 million. Or stealing an expensive sculpture from someone with a mansion.
