I almost always write in past tense. For this WIP (code name: bs) however, I’m trying present tense and I’m liking it.
This novel has a lot of “the past being relived in the present” going on, especially in the beginning 1/3 or so. (Not sure if that will keep being the case going forward.)
Of course, a story where a character doesn’t think about the past probably doesn’t exist–even when they have amnesia, they would likely think about their “nonexistent” past. (Where is it? Shouldn’t it be here?) So it’s not like when I used the past tense, the characters didn’t think about the paster past. But for some reason, this current WIP novel feels even more… how should I put this… present-y? Therefore, whenever she (the protagonist) recalls the past, it feels even more… past-y?
Yes. Something along those lines.
