🧴 They know enough.

In all my stories, children are, “objectively” speaking, precocious. But it’s not because they’re children or despite them being children; I don’t think children are special in any way whatsoever. It’s simply because I’m interested in people who know just enough about themselves. The children in my stories are no different from the grown-ups in my stories. They get the same gravitas. (At least, that is my intent.)

It’s an amusing assumption that “objectively,” if children do this or that, then they are precocious. What children (and grown-ups, so as in, like, eh, all members of the human species) are expected to do at a certain age depends far more on the environment than on biological age.
